Lying beneath basalts at the bottom of the Karoo succession in the northern Lebombo, some 160 km south of Mashikiri (No. 151-00-002), are nephelinites that extend for about 20 km to the north and south of the Olifants River. The general description of the Mashikiri nephelinites applies also to these rocks.
