A 12 km diameter pluton is intrusive into Precambrian granites and andesitic volcanic rocks. On the western side a 10 km long arcuate dyke-like mass may be a ring-dyke. The principal rock type is a coarse-grained quartz syenite with aegirine and amphibole.

Age:
A whole rock K-Ar determination on syenite gave 419 Ma (Vail, 1976). Five samples of granite gave a Rb-Sr isochron age of 383±9 Ma (Cavanagh, 1979).
