Situated on the northern slope of the Turkestan mountain ridge, east of Samarkand, Rokshifo-Sabakhskii is a conformable, 20 km2 intrusion, which has steep contacts. The following succession of rocks occurs: (1) gabbro-diorites and diorites, which are met as xenoliths in the northeastern part of the intrusion, (2) quartz and peralkaline syenites are the dominant rock types and are situated in the central area of the intrusion, (3) nepheline syenites, which are located in the marginal parts of the intrusion and (4) sodalite and cancrinite syenites. There are concentrations of fluorite, apatite, zircon, garnet, titanite, pyrite, arsenopyrite and molybdenite (Dusmatov and Salikhov, 1964).
